Nov 15 - British PM Gordon Brown says G20 took the first steps to revise the global financial system created at Bretton Woods summit in the middle of the last century.

World leaders are expected to convene again in the coming months, when Brown expects them to take further concrete steps to rebuild the global financial system.

Nov 13 - French farmers have shepherded a flock of sheep under the Eiffel Tower as part of a demonstration calling for action to save their livelihoods.

The protest went ahead despite French Agriculture Minister Michel Barnier's proposal of a 250-million euro plan to boost falling farm income, including significant subsidies for sheep breeders and tax relief for the sector as a whole.

The School Board of Trustees welcomed new members Rosemary Bailes and Buddy Herring on Tuesday Evening. The new Board of Trustees will be Chaired by Andy Inabinet, Vice Chair is Jerry Lee, and Denise McCormick is the Board Clerk. The Board had a busy evening with public comment, recognition of Myra Dillard, a presentation by the School Librarians, and updates on the construction of Blue Ridge  Elementary and expansion at Northside Elementary. Nov 11 - In one of his last visits to New York City as Commander-in-Chief, President Bush formally rededicated the Intrepid museum in honor of Veterans Day

The World War II carrier Intrepid recently returned to its Hudson River site after a 19-month, $120 million overhaul. Veterans Day is celebrated on Nov. 11 in honor of the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.Jon Decker reports.

Nov 8 - At least 18 people were killed and five were injured when a light truck being used as a bus overturned and tumbled down a hill in southern Mexico.

The accident occurred on a rural road near Santa Lucia Miahuatlan in the mountainous region of Oaxaca. The light truck skidded on a bend at high speed and fell into an 80 metre-deep hollow. Local government officials told Reuters the pickup truck was overcrowded and speeding.

Nov 5 - Best-selling U.S. author Michael Crichton has died after a private battle with cancer.

The medical doctor turned author wrote novels including "Jurassic Park" and "The Andromeda Strain." 

According to his family, Crichton died unexpectedly in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was 66 years old.

Nov 1 - U.S presidential hopefuls campiagn in states that voted Republican in 2004.

John McCain and Barack Obama are battling it out during the final weekend before decision day in the U.S. McCain is campaigning in Virginia and Pennsylvania. 

Obama is looking to secure votes in Nevada, Colorado and Missouri. Three states that voted for President George W Bush in 2004.

Oct 28 - Questions are being raised by city and state election officials across the country about the validity of tens of thousands of voter registration forms.

The community organizing group Acorn announced at the beginning of October that it had registered 1.3 million new voters nationwide. But about 400,000 forms were rejected by election officials -- because of incomplete forms, duplicate registrations and outright fraud.

The Regular Meeting of the School District of Oconee County was everything but regular. Opening with the Pledge led by Anna Williams, a Senior from Seneca High and Rev. Mike Babb, from Trinity Praise and Worship, giving the invocation. Mr. Harry Mays then presided over his last Board Meeting. Mr. Mays recounted over 20 years of service as a member of the board and, finally, as Chairman. He will be missed. Other recognition of Students and Staff included: Phil Hopkins, Walhalla Middle School honored as Middle School Coach of the Year. Alanda Parker and Anna Williams honored as Semifinalists in the National Achievement Scholarship Competition. Oct 21 - Britain's defence ministry makes public secret dossiers on reported UFO sightings.

The accounts include a reported near miss by the crew of an Italian passenger jet in 1991 as they were approaching London's Heathrow and an account by a U.S. fighter pilot who says he was ordered to shoot down an unidentified flying object over Britain during the Cold War.

Oct. 17 - The last remaining survivor of the Titanic is to sell mementoes from the doomed cruise liner to help pay for her nursing home fees.

Millvina Dean is hoping to raise more than 3,000 UK pounds (5183 USD) from the auction.

The SDOC Board of Trustees held their Tuesday evening Work Session at Oakway Intermediate School. The session opened by Hanna Gibson, a 5th grade student, leading the Pledge and the Invocation by Rev. Steve Black, Scenic Height Baptist Church. Division Reports included Budget Update, School Assignment Plan, AYP & Test Scores, and a presentation of "Grow our Own" a program to develop teachers from the community.
