Wedding: Cox

Wedding: Amber Michele Land and Michael Justin Cox

Amber Michele Land and Michael Justin Cox, both of Westminster, S.C., were married on Aug. 16, 2008 at Bethel Baptist Church in Westminster officiated by the Rev. Johnny Cox, uncle of the groom, and the Rev. David Bagwell.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. James Alfred Land and Mrs. Lucille Traynum Land of Westminster. She is a 2003 graduate of West-Oak High School and received an Associate’s degree from Tri-County Technical College in 2006. She is employed as a paraprofessional at James M. Brown Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Mr. Michael Allen Cox and Mrs. Lynn Haley Cox of Westminster. He is a 2003 graduate of West-Oak High School and received an Associate’s degree from Tri-County Technical College in 2006. He is a quality control analyst at Square D in Seneca, S.C.
Lacey Carol Land, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Leigh Cartee Humphries, cousin of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Shawna Marie Bullock, Jessica Ables Norris and Krista Lanette Wulff. Junior bride was Gracie Lynn Traynum, cousin of the bride. Flower girls were Abigail Grace Cartee, Emily Brose Cartee, and Ella Amae Traynum, all cousins of the bride.
Michael Allen Cox, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Joshua Allen Cox, brother of the groom, Kyle Perkins Bryson and Shane Anthony Smith. Junior groom was Bryan Anthony Crowe, brother of the bride. Landon Joel Carter, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearer.
Jeremy and Nicole Ladd served as pianist/trumpet. Program attendants were Jeremy Carter and Katlyn Michels. Ashley Taylor Cox served as guestbook attendant.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Walhalla Depot.
The bride and groom are the second generation to be married on Aug. 16. They share this special day with the bride’s maternal grandparents, Norman and Laura Mae Traynum, who were married on Aug. 16, 1945.

Engagement: Swafford and McAlister

Kimberly D. Swafford and Jason R. McAlister are pleased to announce their engagement.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Westminster High School and attended Clemson University. She is the daughter of the late Grady Swafford of Westminster, S.C. and Clara Belle Eades Smith of Walhalla, S.C. Kimberly is employed as a medical transcriptionist and accountant.
The groom-elect is a graduate of West-Oak High School. He is the son of Charles and Eunice McAlister of Westminster and is currently employed by the United States Postal Service.
The wedding will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at the beautiful Walhalla Depot and Gardens.

Wedding: Taylor

Wedding: Brandy Diana Rogers and Tyson Robert Taylor

Brandy Diana Rogers and Tyson Robert Taylor, both of Walhalla, S.C., were married on Nov. 1, 2008 in Walhalla. The bride’s father, Donnie Rogers, officiated. The bride was given away by her son, Cameron Cromer.

The bride is the daughter of Donnie and Carol Rogers of Walhalla. She is a 1994 graduate of Walhalla High School and is self-employed with Landvision Titles in Walhalla.

The groom is the son of Robert Taylor of Asheville, Ohio, and Lindy Beem of Inverness, Fla. He is a 1993 graduate of Walhalla High School and is employed with the Atlantic Group at the Oconee Plant of Duke Power.

The bride and groom are former high school sweethearts, who reunited to wed after a 12-year separation.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the couple’s home on North Laurel St. in Walhalla.

Wedding: Blackwell

Wedding: Leah Sue LeCroy and Christopher Wayne Blackwell

Leah Sue LeCroy and Christopher Wayne Blackwell were married Oct. 18, 2008 at North Walhalla Church of God. The Rev. Bryan Bellotte and Tim LeCroy, brother of the bride, performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Roger and Carolyn Sue LeCroy of Walhalla, S.C. and the granddaughter of Edalene Kelley of Seneca, S.C. She is a graduate of Walhalla High School and completed a BS degree in business administration with an emphasis in teaching from Lee University, Cleveland, Tenn. and a Masters in Education from Southern Wesleyan University. She is employed at Tamassee-Salem High School.

The groom is the son of Roger and Kathy Blackwell of Westminster, S.C. and the grandson of Easter Blackwell, Virginia Crain and Ed and Evon Simmons of Westminster. He is a graduate of West-Oak High School and is employed at Ulbrich Precision Flatwire in Westminster.

Amy Chapman of Cleveland, Tenn., former college roommate served as maid of honor. Mrs. Kelley LeCroy of Westminster, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rachel LeCroy of St. Louis, Mo., sister-in-law of the bride, and Alisha Scott of Westminster. Emma Blackwell, daughter of Elvin and Michelle Blackwell of Fair Play, S.C., served as the flower girl.

Stacy Blackwell, of Westminster, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Elvin Blackwell of Westminster, brother of the groom, Tim LeCroy of St. Louis, brother of the bride and Jody Smith of Westminster, brother-in-law of the bride. Zander Blackwell, son of Stacy and Sabrina Blackwell of Westminster, served as ring bearer.

Ushers were Jimmy Buchanon and Chris Hatley of Westminster.

Attendants were Sabrina Blackwell, Megan Hatley of Westminster and Amiee Debo of Seneca, S.C.

Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in the church social hall catered by Mrs. Felicia Burgess.

Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple resides in their new home in Westminster.
